What we cover

Tuning fundamentals

Reading and understanding tune files, HP Tuners and VCM Scanner, datalogging and reading the data, fuel and spark, MAF and VE, air/fuel ratio and wideband, closed and open loop, knock and timing, and idle and drivability.

Performance calibration

Bolt-on tuning, cam and airflow changes, forced-induction fundamentals, injector and fuel-system changes, throttle and torque management, and transmission tuning fundamentals.

Doing it right

Safe tuning limits, troubleshooting bad tunes, building a repeatable process, quoting tuning jobs, the tools and software you need, and legal and emissions limits.

You'll leave able to

  • Read a tune file and know what a change will do
  • Log data and understand what it's telling you
  • Make changes safely, and find what's wrong with a bad tune
  • Quote tuning work

Good fit for

  • Automotive techs
  • Shop owners whose customers ask about tunes
  • Serious performance enthusiasts

You work with real vehicles and real tune files, not classroom theory.
